Meet
The David Dorn Foundation
OUR HISTORY
David Dorn, retired as a Captain with the St Louis Metropolitan Police Department, after working his way up through the ranks over 38 years. He then became the Chief of Police for Moline Acres Police Department for almost 6 years. David always had a strong reputation of taking care of his officers and friends.
In the early morning hours of June 2nd, 2020, David went to check on a friend’s business during the St Louis riots. Upon his arrival he encountered numerous looters. One of those looters, needlessly shot and killed David Dorn. The suspect was later arrested and charged in David’s death. In 2022, he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

OUR MISSION
After David Dorn's murder, his wife Ann felt the desire to honor her late husband, David. Looking back at the positive impact the St Louis Police Foundation had on St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officers, Ann felt this would be a perfect avenue to continue David’s passion of “taking care of his officers.” Together, Ann and a longtime friend Gary Foster formed the Captain David Dorn Foundation in February 2022, a 501c3 Charitable Organization. Ann and Gary wanted to provide equipment that a police or fire department did not, or could not provide for their employees. Ann and Gary witnessed first-hand the positive impact those donations had on their fellow First Responders.
